Sackatoga Stable traces its origins to a group of friends, brought together by a shared passion for Thoroughbred racing and the belief that the sport’s greatest moments are best experienced together. Led by Jack Knowlton, the partnership was built on camaraderie, curiosity, and a desire to participate in the sport in a meaningful way.

That belief found its defining moment in 2003 with Funny Cide, whose unforgettable run captured the imagination of racing fans across the country. Funny Cide remains the only New York-bred to win the Kentucky Derby, proving that a partnership like Sackatoga could compete, and win, at the sport’s highest level while staying true to its roots.

In 2006, that early success was transformed into the modern Sackatoga Stable syndicate, expanding the partnership to welcome a broader community of owners while preserving the spirit that made it special from the beginning.

Since then, Sackatoga has continued to build on its legacy with standout runners like Tiz the Law, a New York-bred who delivered another historic milestone as the first horse bred in the state to win the Belmont Stakes since 1882, further reinforcing the stable’s commitment to competing at the highest level while staying grounded in our principles.

Today, Sackatoga Stable remains bound by the same ideals that started it all: that the thrill of Thoroughbred racing is even greater when it’s a shared experience.
